Mobile Men Fall To Oklahoma City

ORANGE BEACH, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's soccer team fell 2-1 to Oklahoma City Saturday afternoon on the final day of the University of Mobile Soccer Classic, as the Stars tallied a pair of second-half goals to pick up the win.
 
The Rams controlled the first half with a 10-6 edge in shots and a 4-1 edge in shots on target, and took a 1-0 lead into intermission when Onesimus Ikungo knocked in a perfect cross from Gerardo Flores in the 19th minute.
 
In the second half, Oklahoma City out-shot the Rams 13-7 and kept applying pressure, which finally paid off in the final 25 minutes. Chris Spendlove headed home a free kick from Steven Short in the 64th minute, and nine minutes later, Brandon Hull headed home a corner kick from John Dill in the 73rd minute for the winning tally.
 
Mobile goal keeper Jason Williams did all he could with 7 saves on the day, 6 of which came in the final half, but the Rams' offense could not score, putting only two shots on target in the final 45 minutes.
 
Mobile (3-5) returns to action at home Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7 pm versus St. Thomas.
