ORANGE BEACH, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's soccer team bested Oklahoma Baptist 2-0 at the Orange Beach Sportsplex Friday afternoon in the University of Mobile Soccer Classic.
The Rams out-shot the visitors 18-7 in the contest and got a pair of late goals to change the game from a scoreless tie to a comfortable 2-0 victory.
Cedric Carrie tallied Mobile's first goal at 77:35 when he worked his way inside the 18-yard box and struck the ball into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. In the 82nd minute, Onesimus Ikungo took a feed from Chris Dillon, beat the defense into the box and punched the ball past the Bison goal keeper.
Jason Williams collected 2 saves for the shutout victory for Mobile.
Mobile did a nice job early in the game of controlling the ball and making good runs, but the Bison's defense stepped up and limited Mobile to 7 shots in the half. The Rams upped the pressure in the final half, out-shooting OBU 11-4 and getting numerous good looks from Ikungo, Carrie, Ruben Diaz and Sam Blackburn.
The Rams (3-4) play Oklahoma City Saturday, Sept. 26 at 2 pm on the final day of the University of Mobile Soccer Classic at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.
