Mobile Falls 0-1 At Home Tournament

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's soccer team continued to struggle on offense, and fell 0-1 to University of Texas at Brownsville Friday on day one of UM's Rumble at the Jungle.

The Rams (1-4) have now only scored two goals in five games on the season, despite nearly equaling the shot attempts of the victorious UTB Scorpions.

UT-Brownsville finished with 14 shots to 12 for Mobile, while both teams put 6 shots on target. Both goal keepers played excellent, while Scorpion goal keeper Juan Gamboa finished with a 6-save shutout. Jason Williams grabbed 5 saves while allowing one goal for Mobile and made a brilliant stop on a one-on-one breakaway late in the second half.

The Scorpions' goal came in the 42nd minute when Mario Perez knocked in a rebound after Evans Frimpong's shot was knocked away by Williams. The Rams' best chance came in the 59th minute when Cedric Carrie took a crack at a volley, but was turned away by a leaping Gamboa who sent the ball just over the crossbar.

Mobile will face Embry-Riddle Saturday at 4:30, preceded by Belhaven v. UT-Brownsville at 2 pm to finish the Rumble in the Jungle.
