UM Moves To 2-0 In Conference

NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team defeated Dillard University 69-64 in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference action Saturday evening.
 
The Lady Rams (10-2, 2-0) struggled in the opening half, shooting only 30% from the floor and 17% from three-point range, which allowed Dillard to take a 34-28 lead into intermission.
 
In the second half, Mobile upped their production to 54% shooting from the floor and a 4-of-7 effort from behind the three-point line.
 
Davina Jefferson led the way for Mobile with 24 points, Alice Honnery added 15 points and 4 blocks and Morgan Melancon added 14 points. Ariel Mitchell led Dillard with 21 points after hitting 5 three-pointers.
 
The teams were even on the boards, but Mobile got to the free throw line 16 more times and finished with a 7-2 edge in blocked shots.
 
Mobile will return to action at Tougaloo College Thursday, Jan. 14 at 5:30 pm.
