Mobile Women Move To 6-1

MONTICELLO, Ark-- The University of Mobile women's basketball defeated NCAA II Southern Arkansas 61-60 on the final day of the Dr. Mary Jane Gilbert Classic Saturday.
 
Gerica Johnson led Mobile with 27 points, while Morgan Melancon added 11 points for the Lady Rams. Kmaria Hobbs put up 18 points to lead SAU, while Shenelda Levingston added 13 points and 15 boards.
 
The Lady Rams led by as much as 12 points in the opening half on a Morgan Crawford 3-pointer with 9:53 to go, but SAU took that lead down to 30-28 heading into the break.
 
In the second half, SAU jumped ahead and took a lead until Mobile fought back to take a one-point lead on a Kyiona Boulton layup with 9:44 to go. SAU battled back to take a 6-point lead at the 4:53 mark, but the Lady Rams scored the next seven points to go ahead 57-56 with 3:44 left. After falling behind 57-60 with 2:32 remaining, the Lady Rams got four points from Johnson to take a 61-60 lead with 1:27 to go.
 
From there, SAU missed three shots as the score stood up.
 
Mobile (6-1) will play in the Spring Hill College Thanksgiving Classic Nov. 27-28.
