MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's soccer team took down visiting Covenant College 3-1 Saturday evening in non-conference action.
The Lady Rams out-shot Covenant 22-3 and got a pair of goals from Missy Stovall. Mobile controlled the tempo throughout the game, holding a 12-2 edge in shots on goal.
Stovall started the scoring just 3:51 into play when she volleyed home a cross from Christy Lachappelle. Stovall leapt in front of the goal and redirected the ball inside the far post with the side of her foot.
In the 10th minute, Covenant evened the score when Jenny Carter beat the Mobile defense and punched the ball past Mobile goal keeper Anna Maddox.
The game stayed tied through the rest of the opening half, but Mobile answered in the second half. In the 51st minute, Lachappelle tallied the game-winner when she received a feed from Terri McCreadie inside the 18-yard box, and knocked the ball in top shelf. Stovall finished the scoring in the 77th minute when she received a long pass from Jazlyn Payne, beat the defender and keeper, and knocked the ball into the empty net.
