Simmons' Hat Trick Beats Reinhardt

WALESKA, Ga-- The University of Mobile women's soccer team used Brianna Simmons' hat trick to pick up a 5-1 victory at Reinhardt College Monday and halt a four-game skid.
 
Mobile (4-5-1) returns to action at Gulf Coast Athletic Conference opponent LSU-Shreveport Saturday, Oct. 10 at 1 pm.
 
The Lady Rams out-shot Reinhardt 26-6 and finished with a 12-2 edge in shots on goal. The teams traded goals in the opening half, and then Mobile broke things open with four second-half tallies.
 
Bekah Grippa scored in the 31st minute off an assist from Simmons, and Reinhardt's Katelyn Prester answered four minutes later to tie things at 1-1 heading into intermission.
 
Simmons then went to work in the second half, scoring three straight goals for Mobile. She scored in the 47th minute off an assist from Jazlyn Payne, and again in the 67th minute thanks to an assist from Jade Payne. The freshman then added an unassisted goal in the 70th minute.
 
Missy Stovall scored off a feed from Christy Lachappelle in the 74th minute to cap the scoring. Anna Maddox picked up one save in goal for the Lady Rams. Stovall now leads Mobile with 6 goals, while Lachappelle has 5 goals and 5 assists for a team-high 15 points.
