MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's soccer team handed NCAA II Nova Southeastern its first loss of the season, winning a 2-0 contest at Mobile Friday evening.
The Lady Sharks were 2-0 on the season after wins over Embry-Riddle and Barry, but the Lady Rams got great defense and a pair of first-half goals for the win.
The Lady Rams got a 10-save shutout from Anna Maddox for her second shutout in three starts this season. The 10 saves sets a career high for the 2008 NAIA All-American.
A Lady Ram defender, Ashley Lachappelle notched her first goal of the season when she sent a corner kick inside the far post in the 19th minute. Freshman forward Missy Stovall added her team-high 5th goal of the season in the 32nd minute. Terri McCreadie sent a long pass down the sideline, Stovall caught up to the ball, beat one defender into the box and sent the shot over the goal keeper's head into the far corner for the 2-0 lead.
Mobile was out-shot 20-7 in the game. The Lady Rams return to action Wednesday, Sept. 16 at NCAA II University of West Florida in a 7 pm contest.
