MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team announced the signing of two local products for the 2011 season. Satsuma product Cynthia Summersgill (pictured left) and Citronelle's Shelby McCreedy (pictured lower right) will join the Lady Rams beginning with next season.
Summersgill played only one season of tennis at Satsuma, but put up a very solid 9-3 record from No. 4 singles. Prior to that she ran cross country for the Gators and qualified for the State Championships in the 2009-10 season.
Coming to Mobile will fulfill a life-long dream for Summersgill.
"I chose the University of Mobile because I've always wanted to go there since I was little," Summersgill said. "It's close to home and has a great atmosphere."
Being new to the game of tennis, she understands that she will have to work hard to make an impact.
"I bring a willingness to learn and better myself, I'm a hard worker and I do my best every opportunity I have," Summersgill said.
McCreedy, who plans to major in nursing, played tennis at Citronelle HS the past two years, also played soccer for one year.
"Both young ladies will bring a lot of enthusiasm and depth to the team and fit in perfectly at this school," Mobile Head Coach Uwe Tittl said.
