KANSAS CITY, Mo-- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics released the qualifier field for the 16th Annual NAIA Women's Golf National Championships Thursday and the University of Mobile's Maegan Rice made the field as one of six individual qualifiers.
This will be the 4th-consecutive year at nationals for the senior from Florence, Ala., as the Lady Rams qualified as a team in 2007 and 2008, and this is the 2nd straight year she qualified as an individual.
The elite field is comprised of 129 players, including 14 automatic qualifying teams, 10 at-large teams and six individuals. Rice earned her spot by winning the NAIA Unaffiliated Tournament in Group No. 4. That tournament was filled with teams from the GCAC, Southern States Athletic Conference and TranSouth.
The tournament will take place May 25-28 at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City, S.D. Pairings will be announced Friday at 3:30 pm.
Rice finished 1st in six tournaments this year, including a stretch of five-straight 1st-place finishes earlier in the 2009-10 season.
