Lady Rams XC Inks Runner

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's cross country program announced the signing of Kristen Jones Monday.

Jones is the daughter of Tony and Trish Jones and is a native of Suwanee, Ga.

Jones began running cross country in 9th grade and posted a personal record of 20:09 in the Westover Invitational in Albany, Georgia. That time won her first place as a freshman in the Junior Varsity race.  Unfortunately, the following year she tore her ACL playing soccer and spent her Junior year recuperating in physical therapy and training to come out strong as a Senior.  She ended with a season personal record of 24:24 for the 5k.

"We are looking forward to seeing that time drop down to the low twenties once again." Mobile Head Coach Holly Person said. "Kristen has shown the natural ability and self discipline that it takes to compete at the next level.  With the proper training and support we will reach our individual and team goals."

Kristen found herself a little intimidated as she was making the decision to leave home to attend the University of Mobile and run at the collegiate level.

She explained that, "Ever since I began praying and seeking the Lord, He has been watching over me to make the right decision, and I can definitely tell with this team that he chose the right one for me.  I can't wait to get started!"
