RAPID CITY, S.D.- Maegan Rice carded an opening-round 1-under 71 to take the early lead at the 2010 NAIA Women's Golf National Championships Tuesday. British Columbia's Alyssa Human and Lubbock Christian's Anna Schopp are tied for 2nd with 1-over 73's.

She righted the ship with four birdies on the back-9, including a birdie on holes No. 10 and 12 to quickly get back to even-par. She finished the round with a 4 on the 470-yard Par-5 hole No. 18 to sit at 1-under for the day.
Rice will tee off at 2:30 pm (MDT) on hole No. 10 to start round two on Wednesday. The tournament consists of four rounds.
Rounding out the top 10 are six players at 3-over and one at +2.
