Maegan Rice Sits Two Strokes Back At Nationals

RAPID CITY, S.D.-- The University of Mobile's Maegan Rice sits two strokes back in a tie for 5th place after the second round of the 2010 NAIA Women's Golf National Championships Wednesday.
Rice led after round one after firing a 1-under 71, but the senior shot an 8-over 80 to fall to 7-over 151 for the tournament. British Columbia's Alyssa Human and Lubbock Christian's Anna Schopp are tied for 1st with 5-over 149's after finishing at +4 in the second round.
It was a tough round for all golfers, with only five golfers finishing better than 4-over for the round.
Laura Jones of Oklahoma City and Nathalie Silva of Cal Baptist are tied for 3rd at 6-over 150, while Rice is tied for 5th with William Woods' Jada Bennington and South Carolina Beaufort's Sophie Henke.
After finishing with four birdies and three bogeys in Tuesday's opening round, the Florence, Ala., native one birdie and seven bogeys Wednesday. She still had the lead through 13 holes of action Wednesday, but bogeyed holes 5-8 while closing out with the front nine.
Tee times for the third round Thursday, May 27 are too be determined. The tournament is taking place at Meadowbrook Golf Course and wraps up Friday, May 28 with the fourth and final round.
