MOBILE, Ala-- Coaches Jon and Amber Campbell announced the signing of libero, Katy McCollister, for the 2010 UM volleyball season.
The libero prepped at Lassiter High School in Marietta, Ga., and is a native of Roswell, GA.
The two-time MVP was named to the All-State Team, All-Area Team, All-County Team and Senior All-Star Team in her four-year high school career.
Her club experience includes time with Tsunami, where she teamed up with fellow UM signee Kaylee McGrew. She also played for Cobb Atlanta 2007-09, where she was named MVP.
The team atmosphere was a big draw for McCollister. "I'm excited about playing volleyball at UM because the volleyball program is so positive and the girls and coaches seem to really be a family who care about each other and take pride in playing for UM."
Coach Campbell added, “Katy will give us a fiery boost on the court. She is positive, vocal, and quick to the ball. I expect her to compete for the starting libero job as a freshman.”
