No. 17 Lady Rams Fall In Double-Overtime

MOBILE, Ala-- Playing in their fourth double-overtime game of the season, the 17th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team fell 2-1 to visiting Northwood University (Fla.) in non-conference NAIA soccer action Friday afternoon.

Mobile (2-3-1) next plays Northwood (TX) Friday, Sept. 24 at 4 pm in Orange Beach.

Northwood finished the game with only a 21-15 edge in shots, but they had an 8-1 edge in the two overtime periods, including a 6-0 edge in the final period.

Mobile finished with an 8-6 edge in shots on target, but Northwood goalkeeper Matilda Ojaniemi collected 7 saves and allowed only 1 goal in 106:39 of action. Mobile goalkeeper grabbed 4 saves and allowed 2 goals, working the whole game.

The game looked like it would be high-scoring early, as both teams scored within the first 8 minutes of action. Northwood got on the board first when Sofia Soras put home a feed from Jonina Asgrimsdottir in the 6th minute. Just-over one minue later, Mobile tied it up.

Kassie Ruff passed the ball to Missy Stovall at the top of the 18-yard box, then Stovall pushed the ball to Brianna Simmons, who finished to tie the game.

Almost 100 minutes later, Annika Hogberg ended the game for Northwood, putting home a feed from Amber England from point-blank range.
