DAYTONA BEACH, Fla-- The University of Mobile men's soccer team saw its season come to an end Saturday, as the Rams fell 0-2 to No. 18 Embry-Riddle in a National Championship Opening Round Game.
The loss snapped a 4-game winning streak for Mobile, and the Rams end the season with a 9-11 record.
Embry-Riddle (13-3-4) will advance to Fresno, Calif. for the final site of the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship. This was Mobile's 13th trip to the NAIA National Championship.
Mobile actually out shot the Eagles 12-10, but just could not find the back of the net.
The game was scoreless for the first 86-plus minutes, but the Eagles broke loose in the final minutes. Ryan Maloney scored the first goal in the 87th minute, and less than a minute later, he scored again to put the game away.
