Scorpions Snap Rams' Six-Game Unbeaten Streak

BROWNSVILLE, Texas-- The 11th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team fell 1-2 at University of Texas at Brownsville in NAIA soccer action Sunday evening.
The loss snaps a six-game unbeaten streak for Mobile and is the team's first loss in a month. Mobile (7-2-2) will visit University of Houston-Victoria Tuesday, Oct. 12.
Despite Mobile holding a 9-6 edge in shots in the opening half, it was UTB that scored a pair of goals to take a 2-0 lead at the break. Juan Nava opened the scoring in the 26th minute, and Mario Perez scored on a breakaway just four minutes later to tally the game-winner.
The Rams kept the pressure on the in the 2nd half with 11 shots and they finally broke through when Chris Dillon scored off a feed from Ruben Diaz in the 81st minute.
But, the score stayed that way as Juan Gamboa collected 6 saves in goal for the Scorpions to pick up the win. Mobile out shot the Scorpions 20-14 for the game and finished with a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal.
UT-Brownsville moves to 7-3-1 on the season.
