Lady Rams Move To 2-0 In SSAC Play

MOBILE, Ala-- The 19th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team improved to 2-0 in SSAC West Division action by blanking visiting Faulkner University 3-0 Saturday evening.

Mobile (8-4-1, 2-0) will host William Carey University Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 5 pm to close out the 2010 home schedule.

The Lady Rams controlled every phase of the game, holding Faulkner to one shot on goal and two shots overall, while taking 20 shots as a team and putting eight of them on target.

Lorna Brownlie made one save for the shutout victory for the Lady Rams, while Caitlin Sebert made five saves and allowed three goals for Faulkner.

Missy Stovall started the scoring for Mobile, tallying both of the Lady Rams' first two goals.

Stovall's first goal came in the 25th minute, when she took a cross from Christy Lachappelle in the 18-yard box and hammered it home. The score stayed that way through the first half, until Stovall tacked on another goal in the 67th minute. A nice pass from Cheryl Edgar led Stovall through a pair of defenders into the box, and then she went far post to beat the keeper.

Anna Maddox finished the scoring for Mobile in the 74th minute, leaping high to head home a corner kick from Lachappelle.
