18th-Ranked Lady Rams Beat Rivals 2-0

MOBILE, Ala-- The 18th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team shut out rival Spring Hill College 2-0 to close out the regular season Saturday afternoon at Library Field.

Mobile (10-5-1, 4-1) clinches the top seed in the SSAC West Division and will host the 4th seed from the SSAC East in the opening round of the SSAC Tournament Saturday, Nov. 6 at a time to be announced.

The Lady Rams dominated possession in the opening half, with an 8-1 edge in shots, but could not find the back of the net, with some headers by Missy Stovall and Bekah Counce sailing just-over the crossbar.

Mobile kept the pressure on the in the second half and got three saves from Lorna Brownlie, including a diving save and a breakaway stop in the opening minutes of the final period.

Then, in the 60th minute Missy Stovall produced the game-winner. She was taken down just-outside the 18-yard box and then took the free kick herself and knocked it through the wall and into the back of the net.

Stefanie Weaver came off the bench to cap the scoring in the 77th minute, when she punched home a rebound after Louise Arseneault's shot bounced off the crossbar.

Brownlie finished with 3 saves for the shutout victory in goal for Mobile.
