UMobile Volleyball Falls At Spring Hill

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team went into Thursday's match at rival Spring Hill with a chance to force a three-way tie at the top of the SSAC West, instead Mobile fell 0-3 (8-24, 13-25, 12-25) and now sits in the 3rd spot in the division.
Mobile (15-14, 5-3) will host NCAA-II University of West Florida Monday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 pm for Senior Night. The SSAC Tournament will take place Nov. 12-13 in Gulfport, Miss.
The Rams just could not get going, hitting only -.066 for the match. Alyson Kovacs led the team with 7 kills, followed by 4 from Kelly Sherling. Katy McCollister led with 6 digs, while Melody Tenney finished with 12 assists.
Spring Hill hit .392 as a team. Yiting Cao finished with 16 ills and 7 digs and hit .379, while Sha Sha Buchanan hit 1.000 and had 6 kills.
The Badgers used an early 8-0 run to take a 10-2 lead in the first set and later closed it out with a 5-0 surge.
The second set was 4-4 early, until Spring Hill outscored Mobile 16-3 over the next 19 points to take control, and the final set was much of the same, as the Badgers jumped ahead 7-1 and 17-5.
