No. 8 Rams Advance To SSAC Finals

GULFPORT, Miss-- The 8th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team blasted Shorter University 4-1 in the SSAC Semifinals Thursday.
Mobile (14-3-2) will advance to the SSAC Finals Saturday at 7:30 pm versus Southern Poly at the Gulfport Sportsplex.
Mobile dominated from the get-go with a 12-4 shot advantage in the opening half and two first-half goals.
Stephen Okai got the scoring started with a goal in the 22nd minute off assists from Eoin Dolan and Jubril Lawal.
Deshorn Brown then tallied the eventual game-winner, his 17th of the season, in the 42nd minute when he scored on a pass from Chris Dillon. Garry Perks kept Shorter from getting blanked in the opening half with a goal in the 43rd minute.
The Rams kept the pressure on in the final 45 minutes, taking nine more shots and scoring two more goals.
Brown tallied his 18th goal of the season off an assist from Marc Joseph in the 53rd minute, and then Ruben Diaz found Onesimus Ikungo for a goal in the 75th minute to cap the scoring.
Jason Williams grabbed 4 saves in goal for the Rams.
