Women's Soccer Players Earn Academic Honors

MOBILE, Ala-- Anna Maddox and Ashley Lachappelle were named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

There were 446 women's soccer student-athletes honored in all.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

The Lady Rams finished the season at 13-7-1 and advanced to the Round of 16 at the 2010 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championships.

Maddox is a senior defender from Auburn, Ala., while Lachappelle is a junior defender from San Antonio, Texas. Mobile's defense allowed only 23 goals in 21 games.

Lachappelle finished with 1 goal and 3 assists, while Maddox produced 2 goals and 3 assists.
