KANSAS CITY, Mo-- Three University of Mobile women's soccer players were named NAIA All-Americans, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Monday.
Anna Maddox, a senior defender from Auburn, Ala., was tabbed as a 2nd-Team selection, Christy Lachappelle, a sophomore forward from San Antonio, Texas, was named 3rd-Team All-American, and Missy Stovall, a sophomore forward from San Antonio earned Honorable Mention All-American honors.
The honorary squad is comprised of a 1st, 2nd and 3rd-Team and an honorable mention list. The players are selected by the All-America committee.
This is the third straight year on the list for Maddox, after earning Honorable Mention All-American honors in 2008 and 2009. She started 20 games in the defensive backfield for a Lady Rams' defense that allowed only 23 goals in 21 games, while pitching 8 shutouts. She also found time to tally 2 goals and 3 assists.
Lachappelle shared the team-lead with 11 goals and added 8 assists for a team-high 30 points. She posted three games with multiple goals and three games with multiple assists. She was at her best in postseason play, tallying 2 goals and 1 assists in a pair of SSAC Tournament games, and posting 1 goal and 2 assists in the NAIA Opening Round win over Embry-Riddle.
Stovall, who was a Honorable Mention selection last year, tallied 11 goals and 3 assists in 19 games for 25 points. She scored twice against Brenau, Reinhardt and Faulkner, and tallied goals in both NAIA National Championship contests for the Lady Rams.
Mobile finished the year 13-7-1 and advanced to the Round of 16 at the 2010 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championships.
