Rams Recognized For Fall Success

CLEVELAND – The University of Mobile is ranked 15th in the final fall NAIA Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings.

Mobile received 53 points for a ninth place finish in women's soccer and 83 points for a third place finish in men's soccer.

Azusa Pacific (Calif.) extended its lead, earning 25 points following a ninth place finish in football, bringing their point total to 301 points.

The Raiders of Southern Oregon remain in second place having accumulated 220 total points.

Still trailing the Raiders by a single point in third place is Lee (Tenn.). The Flames finish the fall championship season with a total of 219 points.The Pioneers of Malone (Ohio) are in fourth place after having scored in three of the six fall championships. They have 202.50 total points.

Rounding out the top five is Hastings (Neb.). The Broncos scored significant points in two of the six fall championships to accumulate 190 total points.

All six fall NAIA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: men’s cross country – Southern Oregon; women’s cross country – Cal State San Marcos; women’s soccer – Lee (Tenn.); men’s soccer – Hastings (Neb.); women’s volleyball – Fresno Pacific (Calif.); football – Carroll (Mont.).

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 12 sports -- six women’s and six men’s.

The first winter NAIA standings will be released Thursday, March 10, 2011. Please note, standings published midseason are unofficial.
