SHREVEPORT, La-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 4-5 decision at LSU-Shreveport Saturday.
Mobile (1-1) will visit rival Spring Hill College Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 1 pm in a SSAC West Division battle.
Mobile fell in a 1-2 hole after doubles play and could not recover. The No. 3 doubles team of Treya Smith/Samantha Parrott pulled out the only win, 8-2. Claudia Borges/Cynthia Summersgill lost 6-8 at No. 1 and Nancy Machen/Tracy Cullum fell 1-8 in the No. 2 spot.
In singles play, Borges won 6-0, 6-0; Machen won 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) and Samantha Parrot pulled out a 6-4, 2-6 (10-8) victory.
Smith fell 6-7 (3-7), 4-6; Cullum lost 1-6, 1-6 and Summersgill lost 3-6, 3-6.
