Lady Rams Bash The Badgers 72-62

MOBILE, Ala-- Entering play Saturday with only three regular season games left, the University of Mobile women's basketball team picked up a big SSAC West victory, beating Spring Hill 72-62.
Mobile now sits at 15-9 overall and 5-5 in the division, which puts them in a tie for 3rd place. The top four teams from the East and the West advance to the SSAC Tournament. The Lady Rams will visit Faulkner Thursday, Feb. 24 at 5:30 pm.
The Lady Rams won by dominating the game in the paint. Post player Alice Honnery led the team with 21 points, 15 rebounds and 6 blocks, while forward Adrienne Mackay added 14 points and 10 rebounds. They went a combined 16-of-29 from the floor. Morgan Crawford added 8 points thanks to hitting 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. In the second half, Mackay and Honnery combined for 27 points and 13 rebounds.
Tempey Hamilton led Spring Hill with 17 points, while Kimaire Bock added 10 points, but hit only 5-of-20 from the floor.
Mobile out shot Spring Hill 52% to 42% from the floor and hit 11-of-12 from the free throw line in the final half, compared to 4-of-7 from the Badgers.
Spring Hill managed to build a 30-29 lead after the opening 20 minutes thanks to holding Mackay and Honnery to a combined 8 points and forcing 11 Mobile turnovers, while Bria Bohanon and Hamilton combined for 20 points. The Lady Rams were clinging to a 15-12 lead with 11:46 in the half and then they went without a field goal until Honnery scored 6:35 later and they were down 25-18. Mobile then rebounded to retake the lead at 29-27 on back-to-back buckets from Anna Maddox and Allison Michael, but Kristin Rogers hit a 3-pointer to send the Badgers into the break with the lead.
In the second half, Mobile struck first for the lead, but Spring Hill answered back to grab a 36-35 lead with 15:55 left and held the lead until Morgan Crawford scored to make it 52-51 Mobile with 6:47 left. The Badgers hit a free throw to tie it up 52-52 and Mackay answered with a pair of free throws 10 seconds later to give Mobile the lead for good, 54-52. Up 60-57 with 4:05 left, the Lady Rams iced the game with an 8-0 spurt, with four different players contributing buckets.
