Mobile Softball Sweeps Pair In Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile softball team improved to 4-1 on the season with a sweep on the final day of the Faulkner University Tournament. Mobile opened by blanking Southern Wesleyan 5-0 and finished the day with a 3-2 victory over Shorter University.

In the opener, Kamaron Strickland picked up the win with 6 innings of 3-hit, shutout relief. The sophomore fanned 8 in the game.

At the plate, Holli McLeod continued her hot hitting with a 2-4 performance, while Hannah Beth Baker added a 2-3 effort. Kaci Pribanic and Ally Scott provided the pop in the order, as Pribanic swatted a 3-run home run and Scott finished 3-3 with a homer and a double.

Against Shorter, Victoria Buie went the distance for the victory, allowing only 1 earned run on 5 hits, while striking out 3.

Mayles Rodriguez went 3-4 with a double and the game-winning 2-run home run in the 2nd inning from the top spot in the lineup, while McLeod again finished 2-4 at the plate. Scott swatted two more doubles and finished 2-3 on the afternoon.

Mobile will next travel to Rome, GA for the Shorter University Tournament Feb. 25-26. The Lady Rams will open against Campbellsville Friday at 4 pm.
