Rams Roll Behind Kimbrough's 27 Points

MOBILE, Ala-- It was the Ji Kimbrough show Saturday evening, as the University of Mobile men's basketball team disposed of the Spring Hill College Badgers 65-53 in SSAC West rivalry action.
The sophomore guard from Mobile poured in 27 points on 9-of-16 shooting, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range. He went over 20-plus points for the 8th time this season. Other shooters shot 11-of-32 and went 0-for-9 from 3-point range. Spencer Duke and Donte Walker added 9 points apiece for the Rams.
Charles Gordon led Spring Hill with 15 points, while Nick Brown added 11.
Mobile shot 42% from the field, compared to 45% from Spring Hill, but the Rams turned the ball over only 10 times and out-rebounded the Badgers 33 to 27, while going 22-of-30 from the free throw line.
With the win, Mobile (14-12, 7-3) maintained the tie for 1st in the SSAC West with William Carey. The Rams visit Faulkner Thursday at 7:30 pm.
Spencer Duke scored four of Mobile's first six points as the Rams jumped out to a 6-0 lead and never allowed the Badgers to take the lead. Spring Hill did manage to tie it up 7-7 4:52 into the half, but the Rams answered with another 6-0 spurt behind four points from Kimbrough. With Mobile sitting ahead 21-20 with 3:22, Tyler Schwab missed a free throw to tie the game, and Mobile finished the half on a 9-2 run to take a 30-22 lead into the break.
In the final half, the Badgers could get no closer than six points as the Rams cruised to the finish line.
