Baseball Sweeps Twinbill From Thomas University

THOMASVILLE, Ga-- The University of Mobile baseball team finished off a 3-game sweep of Thomas University Saturday by sweeping the doubleheader by scores of 5-4 and 3-0 in a pair of 7-inning contests.

Mobile (12-5) hosts Spring Hill College for a 3-game SSAC West series this weekend, beginning with a single game Friday, Mar. 4 at 2 pm.

In the opener, Corey Fountain grabbed the win with 3 innings of 3-hit, shutout relief. The Rams found themselves down 4-1 entering the top of the 6th inning when the bats went to work and put up a 4-spot. The Rams sent nine men to the plate and racked up 5 hits. Cameron White, Jeremy Williams and Sam Mahoney started the inning with singles to load the bags and then with 1 out, Ryne Phillips popped a 2-run double and Josh Blaylock provided a RBI-groundout to tie the game. Ryan Waltman then provided a 2-out, pinch-hit RBI-single for the winning tally.

Cameron White finished 3-4 with 2 runs at the plate, Jeremy Williams and Sam Mahoney each went 2-4, and Phillips drove in a pair.

Jacob Knowles picked up the win in the finale, with 5.1 innings of 3-hit, shutout ball. He fanned two and walked two. Josh Blaylock allowed only 1 baserunner and fanned 3 in 1.2 relief innings to grab the save.

Mahoney finished 2-4 at the plate, while Ryan Waltman went 2-3 with 1 RBI.
