No. 15 Senators Take Down Mobile 11-5

MOBILE, Ala-- The 15th-ranked Auburn University-Montgomery Senators scored early and late to take down the University of Mobile baseball team 11-5 in SSAC West action Friday.
Jeremy Williams went 3-5 at the plate to pace Mobile, while Ryan Waltman finished 2-4 with 2 RBI and Ryne Phillips and Brady King each added 2 hits for Mobile. Sam Mahoney plated a pair.
Rusty Todd went 4-5 at the top of the AUM lineup, while six other Senators tallied two hits. Logan Remson was 2-4 with 3 RBI.
Kyle Mitchell got the win for AUM by limiting Mobile to 1 run on 8 hits in 7.1 innings of action, while Sam Judah got the save after stranding the bases loaded in the bottom of the 8th with a then, 4-1 lead. Michael King took the loss for Mobile after surrendering 4 runs (2 earned) on 11 hits in 8 innings.
AUM started the scoring with a 3-run 1st inning that saw a RBI-double from Judah. From there, King and Mitchell locked horns and put up 0's through 7 innings until the teams traded single tallies in the 8th.
In the 9th, the wheels came off for the Mobile pitchers and the Senators tallied 7 runs on 8 hits to put the game away. Four straight hitters reached via hit to start the inning, with Brian Wheeler doubling home a pair to start the inning. Toddy Cherry added a pinch hit 2-run double in the inning that saw the Rams go through 3 pitchers and AUM send 12 hitters to the plate.
Mobile tried to rally with 4 runs on 6 hits in the bottom of the 9th. Mahoney ripped a 2-run double in the frame.
Mobile (27-18, 5-8) and AUM (34-15, 14-2) battle in a 1 pm twin bill Saturday.
