Rams Drop Pair To No. 15 AUM

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team dropped both ends of a SSAC West twin bill to No. 15 Auburn-Montgomery Saturday by scores of 3-1 (7) and 7-3.
Mobile (27-20, 5-10) will host LSU-Alexandria in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday, Apr. 20 at 1 pm.
Josh Blaylock was the tough-luck loser in the opener after giving up 3 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits in 7 innings of action. He struck out 6 and walked none. Wes Cook picked up the win for AUM by limiting Mobile to 1 run on 5 hits in a complete-game effort. He struck out 6 and walked 1.
Charlie Lester went 2-3 with 2 RBI for the Senators, while Jeremy Williams went 1-3 with a solo homer for the Rams.
The Senators took the lead for good by scoring 2 runs on 4 hits in the top of the 2nd. The first four batters hit safely, with Sam Judah providing a RBI-double and Charlie Lester hitting a RBI-single.
Williams then led off the bottom of the 2nd with a solo home run, but the Rams could not push across another run against Cook.
While the opener was a pitchers' duel, the finale saw AUM pound out 15 hits to win 7-3. Cody Hall threw 129 pitches in the complete-game win for the Senators, holding the Rams to 2 earned runs on 7 hits, while fanning 11. Blake Hanson took the loss after giving up 2 earned runs on 10 hits in 6 innings of work.
Cody Barber drove in 2 for the Rams, while Ryan Waltman finished 2-3 at the dish. Sam Judah and Hunter Cross collected 3 hits apiece for AUM, while Logan Remson added a homer.
The Rams built a 3-0 lead early after plating a pair in the 3rd on Barber's 2-run single up the middle. Things stayed that way until the 5th, when AUM scored 4 runs on 5 hits, highlighted by a 2-run double from Cross. The Senators tacked on three runs over the final two frames.
