Trio Of Lady Ram Golfers Earn SSAC Honors

COLUMBUS, Ga-- Three University of Mobile women's golfers were honored by the release of the year-end awards as announced by the Southern States Athletic Conference Monday.

Senior Taylor Kirby and freshman Ann Nahl were named to the 2011 SSAC All-Conference team, while Fairhope, Ala. native Taylor Lee was selected to the All-Academic Team, and was the team's Musco Lighting Champions of Character winner.

Each team had a player selected as a Musco Lighting Champion of Character, while there are 10 members of the All-Conference Team and eight members of the All-Academic Team. Lee University led all teams with four All-Conference selections, while Mobile and Shorter each had two.

After a 4th place finish in their first match of the spring season, the Lady Rams finished 2nd twice and won their last two tournaments.

Kirby placed 9th in the Webber International Classic, 3rd at the Spring Hill Badger Invite, won the MMC Redhawk Spring Invite with a 21-over 165 and finished tied for 2nd at the Rhodes Spring Invitational with a 7-over 79.

Nahl finished 2nd at the Spring Hill Badger Invite and won the UM-SHC-WCU Tri-Match, beating out Lee in a playoff. Nahl placed 8th to close out the regular season at the Rhodes Spring Invitational.

Taylor Lee placed 9th at the Spring Hill Badger Invite, finished 3rd at the MMC Redhawk Spring Invite and tied for 1st at the UM-SHC-WCU Tri-Match with an 11-over 155. In the final regular season event, she placed 4th with an 8-over 80 at the Rhodes Spring Invitational.
