
MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team swept LSU-Alexandria in a pair of non-conference games Wednesday. Mobile won the opener 12-2 in a run-rule, 5-inning game and took the finale 6-1 in 7 innings.
Mobile (29-20, 5-10) visits Faulkner University to close out the regular season with a 3-game series this weekend, starting with a 5 pm game Friday.
In the opener, the Rams tallied 12 runs on 10 hits, scoring multiple runs in every inning but the 2nd. Jeremy Williams finished 3-4 with 3 runs and 6 RBI. He had a double, triple and 3-run home run. Ryne Phillips finished 2-2 with 4 runs scored, Cody Barber drove in 3 runs and Sam Mahoney finished 2-3. Brady King scored 4 runs out of the 2-hole in the lineup.
Chris Peacock picked up the victory with 3 innings of 3-hit, shutout ball. He struck out 4.
Mobile started the game with a pair of runs in the 1st on RBI doubles from Phillips and Barber, and then put the game away with 10 runs over the final three innings.
A 4-run 4th was the biggest inning, with the big blow being Williams' 3-run home run. Josh Blaylock capped the frame with a sac fly.
The finale saw a trio of Mobile pitchers limit the Generals to 1 run on 4 hits. Jacob Knowles got the start and picked up the victory with 5 innings of 3-hit ball. He allowed 1 unearned run, walked 2 and fanned 1.
Williams, who entered the game ranked 6th in the NAIA in hits, added two more with a 2-3 performance, while Keith Granger went 2-3 with 3 RBI and a 2-run home run. It was Granger's first homer of the year.
With the game tied at 1-1 after 3.5 innings, the Rams took command with a 3-run 4th. After Knowles set the Generals down 1-2-3 in the top half of the inning, the Rams tallied 3 runs on 4 hits. Williams started the frame with a single and scored on Sam Mahoney's RBI-double. Derek Bourgeois and Granger added RBIs in the inning.
