MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball program announced the signing of Dekalb County 5A Player of the Year Jonathan Tinch for the 2011-12 season.
The guard from Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Ga. averaged 20.3 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals per game.
"He is known for his high intensity and agressive play, and at times can be a prolific scorer, going over 30 points several times and reaching the 40-point mark," Mobile Head Coach Joe Niland said.
In his senior year, Stephenson High School won the Regional Championship and advanced to the 2nd round of the State Tournament under the direction of Coach Curtis Gilleylen. He tallied 41 points in the first-round win over Campbell.
Tinch finished as the second leading scorer in Dekalb County, and was named 1st-Team Dekalb County, Honorable Mention All-State and All-Metro Atlanta.
"We expect him to be able to compete for the spot vacated by All-American Donte Walker right away," Niland said.
