Lady Rams Run-Rule Columbia At SSAC Tournament

COLUMBUS, Ga-- The 18th-ranked University of Mobile softball team stayed alive at the 2011 SSAC Tournament by run-ruling Columbia College 13-2 in 5 innings.
Kamaron Strickland (12-8) got the win by limiting Columbia to 2 runs on 7 hits in 5 innings of work. Columbia's Samantha Santoro took the loss after being tagged for 7 runs on 10 hits in 4 innings.
Erica Bracey finished 2-3 with 4 RBI and a home run, Milagros Lozada went 2-3 with 2 RBI and a homer, Jessica Rogers went 2-3 with 3 RBI, Jessica Swanson and Mayles Rodriguez finished 3-3 at the plate and Ally Scott went 2-3 with 2 RBI.
The game was knotted at 2-2 after 2.5 innings before Mobile broke the game open with 8 runs on 8 hits in the bottom of the 3rd inning as 12 hitters came to the plate.
After a walk and sac bunt started the inning, eight straight Mobile hitters reached base safely. Rogers went 2-2 with 3 RBI in the inning, while Scott singled home two and Kirstyn Joiner produced a RBI-double.
Mobile then finished the scoring in the 4th on Bracey's 3-run homer.
Mobile (32-16) will face Faulkner today at 2 pm in an elimination contest.
