Lady Rams Go 2-2 At UST Labor Day Tournament

HOUSTON, Texas-- The University of Mobile volleyball team earned a split at the UST Labor Day Tournament over the weekend.

On Friday, Mobile fell to host University of St. Thomas 2-3 (25-21, 23-25, 25-19, 22-25, 11-15) and then defeated Huston-Tillotson 3-0 (25-8, 25-16, 25-23).

Saturday saw Mobile defeat Friends University 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-14) and fall to Great Falls 0-3 (19-25, 16-25, 15-25).

Against St. Thomas, Lisa Alms led with 17 kills, while Kiara Gay added 13 and Melody Tenney finished with 12. Tenney led the way with 32 assists, while Reagin Boggs had 23. Defensively, Gay had 24 digs and Katy McCollister added 15. Sara Van Wert and Gay each finished with 3 blocks.

Alms again led the way offensively against Huston-Tillotson with 11 kills. Tenney led with 23 assists and served up 3 aces, while Alison Kenney had 5 aces. Van Wert finished with 3 blocks in the match.

In Saturday's straight-set win over Friends, Gay finished with 15 kills and Alms added 12. Tenney and Boggs finished with 22 and 21 assists, respectively. McCollister led the way on defense with 21 digs, while Gay added 13.

In the finale, Alms and Gay finished with 9 and 8 kills, respectively. Tenney paced the team with 15 assists and Gay finished with 13 digs.

Mobile (4-3) will face Tougaloo College at 11 am Saturday, Sept. 10 in Jackson, Miss.
