ORANGE BEACH, Ala-- The 22nd-ranked UMobile women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season by blanking 19th-ranked Carroll College 4-0 on day one of the UMobile Soccer Classic at the Orange Beach Sportsplex Friday evening.
Mobile (1-1-1) will play Westminster College Saturday at 7 pm to cap the tournament.
Christy Lachappelle paced the Mobile attack with a pair of goals and a pair of assists as Mobile out shot Carroll 19-4. Mobile goal keeper Lorna Brownlie was needed for only one save to record the shutout.
The Lady Rams' offense started things off early, as Lachappelle fed Jesslyn Fagundes, who reached the 18-yard box and went top shelf to beat the keeper just 1:48 into the contest.
The score stayed knotted up until the second half, when Mobile broke it wide open with three tallies.
Lachappelle scored in the 56th and 85th minutes, while she assisted Brianna Simmons' goal in the 82nd minute, as Simmons received the ball inside the box and snuck it over a defender and past the goal keeper.
