SILVIS, Ill-- The University of Mobile men's golf team shaved 20 strokes off their round 1 score and finished tied for 13th at the NAIA Preview Invitational Friday.
The Rams finished at 60-over 628 (324, 304) to tie for 13th with William Woods University. Oklahoma City won the event with a 26-over 594 (300, 294).
Jacob Morgan finished in a tie for 29th to lead Mobile after carding a 12-over 154 (80, 74). Alejandro Salcedo shaved 8 strokes off his round 1 score and finished with a 14-over 156 (82, 74).
Tyson Lynn shot a 158 (81, 77, +16), Cameron Smith finished with a 160 (81, 79, +18) and Leland Dunning shot a 174 (94, 80, +32).
The tournament was at TPC at Deere Run, the same site that will host the 2009 NAIA National Championship.
Round 1: Rams In 16th Place After Opening Round
SILVIS, Ill-- The University of Mobile men's golf team is in 16th place out of 17 teams after round 1 of the NAIA Preview Invitational Thursday.
Texas Wesleyan University leads the pack with a 8-over 292 at the Par-71 course.
The Rams carded a 40-over 324 to place 16th. Jacob Morgan paced Mobile by shooting a 9-over 80 (40, 40) to tie for 54th. Cameron Smith and Tyson Lynn both finished with 81's, while Alejandro Salcedo shot an 82 (41, 41, +11). Leland Dunning rounded out the Mobile performers with a 94 (47, 47, +23).
