UMobile Women Score Early; Blast Brenau 5-1

GAINESVILLE, Ga-- The 8th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team blasted SSAC opponent Brenau 5-1 Monday in road action.

Mobile (8-2-1, 4-1) next hosts Emmanuel College Friday, Oct. 7 at 4 pm.

The Lady Rams were actually out shot 9-8 in the opening half, but Mobile put four of those eight shots in the goal.

Each team finished with 16 shots, but Brenau did not get on the board until the 71st minute. Defensively, Lorna Brownlie made nine saves in goal for the Lady Rams.

Christy Lachappelle led the Lady Rams with a pair of goals, while Kassie Ruff finished with one tally and two assists.

Jesslyn Fagundes started the scoring just four minutes into the game, and Lachappelle finished a feed from Ruff in the 8th minute as Mobile built a quick 2-0 lead.

Continuing the fast pace, Ruff added a goal in the 14th minute, and Lachappelle scored her second goal of the day less than a minute later to give Mobile a 4-0 lead in just 15:40 of play.

The score stayed that way until late. Molley Ward capped the scoring for the Lady Rams in the 76th minute.
