Lady Rams Hold Off Faulkner Eagles For 5-Set Win

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team held on to defeat Faulkner University 3-2 (25-21, 22-25, 19-25, 25-20, 15-11) in Southern States Athletic Conference action Tuesday.
Mobile (11-9, 5-5) will play in the Faulkner University Tournament this weekend, beginning Friday at 1:30 pm v. St. Thomas.
Kiara Gay led the Lady Rams with 23 kills, and added 16 digs for the double-double. Disah Kolassiba finished with 14 kills and six blocks for Mobile, while Alison Kenney added 12 kills and 11 digs.
Katy McCollister led the way defensively with 25 digs, while Sara Van Wert added six blocks and Tayler Houseknecht finished with five rejections.
Mobile hit .152 as a team, while Faulkner hit .156.
In the decisive 5th set, the Lady Rams fell behind 6-5, but answered right back with a 5-1 run to take a 10-7 lead. Three-straight kills by Kenney capped the run.
Then, holding a 13-11 lead, Mobile finished it off with a Faulkner service error and a kill by Kolassiba.
