UMobile Volleyball Goes 1-1 At SCAD Invitational

SAVANNAH, Ga-- The University of Mobile volleyball team went 1-1 on day one of the SCAD Invitational Friday, falling to 11th-ranked Taylor University 2-3 (25-17, 21-25, 27-25, 17-25, 11-15) and defeating Ave Maria 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 25-25, 23-25, 15-5).

Mobile (16-11) will face Shawnee State Saturday at 11 am and SCAD at 1 pm to cap the tournament.

Against Taylor, Kiara Gay led everyone with 24 kills and added 12 digs for the double-double, while Melody Tenney racked up 26 digs and 29 assists.

Alison Kenney finished with 11 kills and 22 digs, Disah Kolassiba added 14 kills and 6 blocks, and Katy McCollister finished with 20 digs for Mobile.

Each team was solid at the net, with Taylor finishing with 13 team blocks and Mobile finishing with 10.5. Ashlyn DeHoogh finished with 8 kills and 10 blocks for Taylor.

The Lady Rams out hit Ave Maria .189 to .076 and got 21 kills and 15 digs from Gay. Kenney added 12 kills and 9 digs, while Tenney added 33 assists and 11 digs.

McCollister led everyone with 26 digs, while Kolassiba finished with 14 kills and 5 blocks.
