HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The 5th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team defeated Southern States Athletic Conference rival William Carey University 1-0 Tuesday in road action.
The lone score came off the foot of Christy Lachappelle in the 67th minute. Jesslyn Fagundes sent a ball into the far-right corner of the 18-yard box, and the William Carey goalkeeper over slid the ball and allowed Lachappelle to get behind the defense. She then hammered it home into the empty net.
Lorna Brownlie picked up the shutout victor in goal for the Lady Rams with eight saves.
Mobile finished with a slim 15-14 edge in shots, while corner kicks were even at five apiece.
The Lady Rams (13-2-1, 9-1) will next host Auburn University-Montgomery Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 5 pm.
