5th-Ranked Lady Rams Win 3-1 In SSAC Play

MOBILE, Ala-- The 5th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team used a pair of goals from Christy Lachappelle to upend Southern States Athletic Conference rival Auburn University-Montgomery by a 3-1 score Tuesday.

Mobile (14-2-1, 10-1) will host rival Spring Hill College Saturday at 5 pm.

It took just 7:20 for Lachappelle to put Mobile on the board. Jesslyn Fagundes sent a nice long ball into the box, and Lachappelle chased it down and redirected it into the net for the 1-0 lead.

The score stayed that way until the 43rd minute when Brianna Simmons flicked a feed from Kassie Ruff inbetween the posts.

The Lady Warriors pulled within one on a penalty kick in the 70th minute, but Lachappelle put the game out of reach with an unassisted tally in the 89th minute, giving her 16 goals for the season.

Lorna Brownlie made four saves in goal for the Lady Rams, while Mobile out shot AUM 14-12 in the game and AUM held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks taken.
