MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile's 5th-ranked men's soccer team blasted rival Spring Hill College 5-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference play to cap the regular season Saturday night.
Mobile (15-1-1, 10-1-1) takes home the 2011 Regular Season SSAC Championship and owns the top seed heading into the conference tournament. Mobile will host an unknown team at a time to be determined Saturday, Nov. 5 for an opening round contest.
The Rams dominated the contest from the beginning, out shooting the Badgers 25-7 and scoring three in the opening half.
Gunnar Steindorsson put Mobile on the board first when he collected a loose ball in the box and hammered it home in the 4th minute of play.
Then, Deshorn Brown went to work, tallying two of his three goals in the opening period. He took a pass from Sam Blackburn and outran the defense in the 15th minute, and then capped the first-half scoring in the 41st minute, when he put home a pass from Stephen Okai from a tough angle.
Blackburn scored first in the final period, when he found the net from just-outside the 18-yard box after a feed from Eoin Dolan in the 68th minute.
Brown capped the scoring and notched his 29th goal of the season in the 80th minute after a nice through-ball from Marc Joseph put him behind the defense.
