Lady Rams Split Twin Bill With Thomas

MOBILE, Ala-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team won the opener 7-1 to split Friday's non-conference twin bill with visiting Thomas University. The Night Hawks of Thomas won the finale 6-2. Leslie Pickette got the win in the opener by limiting Thomas to 1 run on 2 hits in 5 innings of work, while fanning a pair. Jessica Palmer finished 3-3 with 2 RBI, Jessica Swanson finished 3-3 with 2 runs, Holli McLeod finished 2-4 with 2 RBI and Hannah Harrell drove in a pair.

UM Baseball Beats William Carey 7-4

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team defeated William Carey University 7-4 Friday afternoon in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play. Mobile (18-24, 11-15) and William Carey (20-21, 16-10) will finish the three-game series with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 pm. Chris Peacock threw 132 pitches to grab the complete-game victory for the Rams.

UM Tennis Teams Win At Tougaloo

JACKSON, Miss-- The 23rd-ranked University of Mobile women's tennis team defeated conference foe Tougaloo College 8-1 Friday afternoon. Claudia Borges, Zelie Pfeiffer, Rachel Hartley, Kari Williams and Alana McDaniel won in singles play for Mobile, while Pfeiffer-Hartley, Williams-Emily Jennings and Borges-McDaniel won in doubles action.

No. 25 Mobile Splits With No. 14 William Carey

MOBILE, Ala-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team took the opener 4-1 over 14th-ranked William Carey University Wednesday to earn a split in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader. William Carey took the finale 2-1. In the opener, the Lady Rams rode the right arm of Leslie Pickette and took advantage of 4 William Carey errors. Pickette scattered seven hits, while allowing only one run and striking out six in a complete-game effort. Katie McCrary took the loss for William Carey after giving up 3 unearned tallies in 2.1 innings of relief.

Rams Drop Non-Conference Tilt At AUM

MONTGOMERY—Sam Judah had three hits and three RBI and Justin Williams added three hits and two RBI to lead Auburn Montgomery to a 9-5 win over the University of Mobile in non-conference college baseball action. AUM committed four errors on the day and those four errors led to four unearned runs.  The errors started in the first inning as Derek Bourgeois scored on a Hunter Norris ground ball that was misplayed in the infield with two outs.

Softball And Women's Tennis Ranked In Top-25

KANSAS CITY, Mo.-- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics released the NAIA Top 25 polls for the spring sports, and the University of Mobile has a couple of teams ranked. The UM women's tennis team is ranked 23rd in the latest NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll after receiving votes last week. Mobile received 108 points in the poll, nine behind 22nd-ranked Biola University (Calif.) and 21 more than 24th-ranked Westmont College (Calif.).

Smith And Hartley Honored By GCAC

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference released the GCAC Players of the Week awards for the week ending April 4th and the University of Mobile had a pair of athletes honored. Rachel Hartley was named the GCAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week and Cameron Smith was named the GCAC Men's Golfer of the Week.

Times Daily Feature On UM's Maegan Rice

Maegan Rice has always been a good golfer, just not a great one. Until now, that is. Rice enjoyed a nice high school career at Central and signed a golf scholarship with the University of Mobile in 2006. During her first two years, Rice played well for the Rams, averaging in the high 70s. Like a light bulb being turned on in her head, Rice said something clicked between her sophomore and junior years. And now, with her college career winding down, Rice has a renewed vigor for a possible career in golf.

Mobile Baseball Splits GCAC Doubleheader At Loyola

WESTWEGO, La-- Saturday was a day of highs and lows for the University of Mobile baseball team as they split a conference doubleheader at Loyola University-New Orleans. Loyola took the opening game 9-1, but Mobile rebounded to take the finale 9-0. Mobile (17-23, 10-15) travels to Auburn University-Montgomery for a doubleheader Tuesday, April 6 at 3 pm. Jarrin Brister scattered 7 hits over 8 shutout innings to grab the win in the finale, while striking out and walking 2. Offensively, the Rams pounded out 16 hits and put up tallies in five of the nine innings.

UM Softball Splits Twin Bill With Columbia

MOBILE, Ala-- The 24th-ranked University split Friday's twin bill with Columbia College (Mo.) dropping the opener 2-3 and rebounding for a 5-0 win in the finale. In that final game, Leslie Pickette grabbed the win for Mobile by limiting the Lady Cougars to three hits in 6 shutout innings. She struck out seven and walked two. Offensively, Mobile plated five runs on only five hits, with the big blow being a four-run 4th inning that started the scoring. Ally Scott and Nicole Walker both finished 1-3 with 2 RBI, while Jessica Swanson was 1-2 with 1 RBI.
