UM Wins 68-66 V. NCAA II School

MONTICELLO, Ark.-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team used Gerica Johnson's 33 points to defeat NCAA II University of Arkansas-Monticello 68-66 Friday at the Dr. Mary Jane Gilbert Classic, hosted by Arkansas-Monticello. It's the third straight 30-plus game for Johnson, who scored 23 of the 33 in the opening half. She hit 13-of-16 from the charity stripe. Alice Honnery added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks for Mobile.

UM Wins National Championship Opening Round Match

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team defeated Savanna College of Art and Design 3-1 (25-19, 25-19, 18-25, 25-15) Saturday in a NAIA National Championship Opening Round Match at Pharr Gym.

The Lady Rams (25-11) advance to Sioux City, Iowa to join 23 other teams at the final site of the NAIA National Championship presented by Siouxland Sports Medicine Foundation.

Rams Knock Off No. 20 AUM

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team knocked off NAIA No. 20 Auburn University-Montgomery 78-76 at Pharr Gymnasium Thursday evening in non-conference action. In a physical game, featuring 63 total fouls and 50 turnovers, the Rams hit 25-of-35 from the charity stripe in the second half, compared to 18-of-27 from AUM.

Johnson Leads Mobile Past UWF

PENSACOLA, Fla-- Gerica Johnson's career-high 37 points led the University of Mobile women's basketball team to an 81-76 overtime victory over NCAA II University of West Florida Monday in non-conference action. Johnson, a senior from Theodore, Ala., hit 13-of-34 from the floor, 2-of-4 from the three-point line and 9-of-9 from the charity stripe. She also grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 7 assists for Mobile.

UM Falls At No. 23 Life University

MARIETTA, Ga-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, falling at NAIA No. 23 Life University 90-81 Monday evening. Boasting a potent scorer in Tay Barber, Life instead got a balanced offensive output, with five different guys scoring in double-figures. Greg Brown led the way with 18 points.

Six Lady Rams Named All-GCAC

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference released the 2009 GCAC All-Conference Volleyball Team, and the University of Mobile had six student-athletes honored. Whitney Knight, Paula Stilkey, Blaire Fowler, Melody Tenney, Cassy Johnson and Sarah Scott were all named to the honorary squad.

Lady Rams Win 2009 GCAC Championship

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team defeated Loyola University 25-22, 23-25, 25-11, 25-15 to win the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championship Saturday. Mobile (24-11) earns an automatic bid to the 2009 NAIA National Championship and will await word on who their opening round matchup will be. Pairings should come out Sunday.

Lady Rams Fall Short At Unaffiliated Tournament

DALLAS, Texas-- The University of Mobile women's soccer team saw its season come to an end at the NAIA Unaffiliated Tournament Friday, falling 2-0 to NAIA No. 3 William Carey University.

Mobile (10-10-1) defeated College of St. Mary and Carroll College in the first two rounds to advance to Friday's championship contest, but could not match the Lady Saders.
