No. 23 Lady Rams Split With No. 6 Belhaven

MOBILE, Ala-- The 23rd-ranked University of Mobile softball team split a GCAC doubleheader with 6th-ranked Belhaven University Tuesday, taking the opener 9-4 before falling in the finale 4-0. Mobile (32-17, 11-5) is done until the GCAC Tournament April 29-30 at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex. Belhaven moves to 44-6 overall and 11-3 in GCAC play. The Lady Rams wasted little time in making a statement in game one, putting up an eight-spot in the 1st to take an 8-0 lead, before coasting to the 9-4 victory.

No. 25 Lady Rams Sweep Rival Lady Badgers

MOBILE, Ala-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team swept a pair of one-run games from rival Spring Hill College Sunday afternoon in GCAC action. Mobile (31-16, 10-4) won game one 2-1 in 8 innings and held on for a 3-2 win in the finale. Kamaron Strickland picked up the win in the opener, going 8 innings of 6-hit, 1-run ball for Mobile. She struck out 3 and walked 1. Samantha Brooks took the loss after giving up 1 earned run on 7 hits in 8 innings while fanning 6 and walking none.

No. 25 Lady Rams Split With No. 16 William Carey

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team took the nightcap 6-5 to earn a split with 16th-ranked William Carey University in GCAC action Tuesday. William Carey won the opener 8-5. Christie Soulis grabbed the win in the finale after limiting William Carey to 2 runs on 4 hits in 3 innings of relief. Kamaron Strickland worked the final inning for the save. Four of Mobile's six runs were unearned thanks to three Lady Sader errors. Ally Scott finished 1-3 with 2 RBI and Korie Fontenot finished 1-3 with 2 runs scored. Larke Nightengale, Tan Montgomery and Jeana Erickson had 2 hits apiece for William Carey.

Trio Named GCAC Players Of The Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference released the GCAC Players of the Week awards for the week ending April 11, and the University of Mobile had three athletes honored. Leslie Pickette was named GCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week, Jessica Palmer was named GCAC Softball Player of the Week and Maegan Rice was named GCAC Women's Golfer of the Week.

Lady Rams Split Twin Bill With Thomas

MOBILE, Ala-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team won the opener 7-1 to split Friday's non-conference twin bill with visiting Thomas University. The Night Hawks of Thomas won the finale 6-2. Leslie Pickette got the win in the opener by limiting Thomas to 1 run on 2 hits in 5 innings of work, while fanning a pair. Jessica Palmer finished 3-3 with 2 RBI, Jessica Swanson finished 3-3 with 2 runs, Holli McLeod finished 2-4 with 2 RBI and Hannah Harrell drove in a pair.

No. 25 Mobile Splits With No. 14 William Carey

MOBILE, Ala-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team took the opener 4-1 over 14th-ranked William Carey University Wednesday to earn a split in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader. William Carey took the finale 2-1. In the opener, the Lady Rams rode the right arm of Leslie Pickette and took advantage of 4 William Carey errors. Pickette scattered seven hits, while allowing only one run and striking out six in a complete-game effort. Katie McCrary took the loss for William Carey after giving up 3 unearned tallies in 2.1 innings of relief.

Softball And Women's Tennis Ranked In Top-25

KANSAS CITY, Mo.-- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics released the NAIA Top 25 polls for the spring sports, and the University of Mobile has a couple of teams ranked. The UM women's tennis team is ranked 23rd in the latest NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll after receiving votes last week. Mobile received 108 points in the poll, nine behind 22nd-ranked Biola University (Calif.) and 21 more than 24th-ranked Westmont College (Calif.).

UM Softball Splits Twin Bill With Columbia

MOBILE, Ala-- The 24th-ranked University split Friday's twin bill with Columbia College (Mo.) dropping the opener 2-3 and rebounding for a 5-0 win in the finale. In that final game, Leslie Pickette grabbed the win for Mobile by limiting the Lady Cougars to three hits in 6 shutout innings. She struck out seven and walked two. Offensively, Mobile plated five runs on only five hits, with the big blow being a four-run 4th inning that started the scoring. Ally Scott and Nicole Walker both finished 1-3 with 2 RBI, while Jessica Swanson was 1-2 with 1 RBI.

No. 9 Belhaven Takes Two From No. 24 Mobile

JACKSON, Miss-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team dropped a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader at 9th-ranked Belhaven University Tuesday, dropping the opener 1-0 and falling 4-2 in the finale. In the opener, the Lady Blazers got a 2-out run in the 1st on Tiffany Ansley's RBI-single and made that stand up as Sarah Burns limited the Mobile bats to two hits in 7 shutout innings.
