Lady Rams Pick Up 9-0 Win In Conference Play

NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team blanked Loyola University 9-0 in SSAC West action Friday. The Lady Rams (3-2, 1-1) return to action Saturday at University of New Orleans at 10 am. Claudia Borges-Kari Williams won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, Nancy Machen-Cynthia Summersgill won 9-7 at No. 2 and Rachel Hartley-Treya Smith picked up an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles.

UMobile Women's Tennis Rolls 8-1

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team defeated Judson 8-1 in non-conference action Thursday at the University of Mobile. The Lady Rams (2-2, 0-1) visit SSAC West opponent Loyola Mar. 11 at 4 pm. With the weather threatening, the teams played the singles matches first, and Mobile set the tone with a clean sweep, before finishing off the match by taking 2-of-3 doubles matches.

Lady Rams Fall To Spring Hill

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team fell 3-6 to Spring Hill College Wednesday in a battle of teams receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25. Mobile (1-2, 0-1) hosts Judson College Thursday at 2 pm. The Badgers took a 2-1 lead after doubles play and then swept 3-6 in singles play, giving only seven games to Mobile in those sets.

Lady Rams Fall 4-5 At LSU-Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 4-5 decision at LSU-Shreveport Saturday. Mobile (1-1) will visit rival Spring Hill College Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 1 pm in a SSAC West Division battle. Mobile fell in a 1-2 hole after doubles play and could not recover.

UMobile Women's Tennis Opens With Win

MARION, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team opened the 2011 season with a 7-2 road victory over Judson College Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Rams (1-0) next play Saturday, Feb. 19 at LSU-Shreveport at 10 am. Mobile opened with a 2-1 edge in doubles play as Claudia Borges-Cynthia Summersgill won 8-2 and Treya Smith-Samantha Parrott picked up an 8-0 victory.

Southern States Showcase Set to Air October 20

Norcross, Ga. - The Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC), which grew to sixteen member institutions on July 1, will add a new dimension in 2010, as the SSAC unveils its feature-based television show debuting on Wednesday, October 20 on SportSouth at 6 p.m. The “Southern States Showcase” will feature 18 thirty-minute weekly episodes on SportSouth (Fox regional sports network) reaching more than 10 million households. The show will air three times weekly across six southeastern states (Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee) beginning the week of October 18.

Tennis Players Named Scholar-Athletes

MOBILE, Ala-- Jesus Urmeneta, Rachel Hartley and Jordin Wiggins were named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Friday. Hartley, a Mobile native, is a business marketing major, while Wiggins, a Spanish Fort native, is an accounting major.

No. 16 LCSC Slips By No. 21 Mobile 5-4 At Nationals

MOBILE, Ala-- The 21st-ranked University of Mobile women's tennis team fell to 16th-ranked Lewis-Clark College 5-4 on day one of the 2010 NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship Tuesday. The Lady Rams finish the season with a 17-6 record, while Lewis-Clark advances to face Fresno Pacific Wednesday at 9 am. This was Mobile's 6th-straight trip to nationals.
