Lindsay Taylor Joins UM JV Volleyball Team

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile announced the addition of Lindsay Taylor to the Junior Varsity Volleyball program. Taylor comes from Clay-Chalkville High School and offers versatility as a defensive specialist and outside hitter. She was named Team Captain in high school in 2009. She has played four years for Team Sting and one year for AAU 17 and under. She was a two-time team captain for Team Sting and won the Sting Award in 2009.

Kaylee McGrew Joins UM Volleyball Squad For 2010

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile Volleyball Team announced the signing of setter, Kaylee McGrew, for the 2010 season. The 5-9 McGrew comes to Mobile via Kennesaw Mountain High School in Kennesaw, GA. She played volleyball under Tonya Kern-Honea, and was named 1st-Team All-State, 1st-Team Area 5A and 1st-Team Cobb County for her efforts on the court. She finished with 431 kills, a .246 attack %, 57 aces and 225 digs as a senior. In 2007, McGrew and the Kennesaw team finished as 5A State runner up.

Mobile Finishes 2nd In Thomas Howell Cup Standings

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference announced the 2010 Thomas Howell Cup winner Tuesday and Belhaven University edged out the University of Mobile to win the coveted trophy for the first time in school history. The Thomas Howell Cup is awarded to the school with the highest number of points based on the order of finish in the various sports they participate in.

Season Ends At National Tournament

SIOUX CITY, Iowa-- The University of Mobile volleyball team fell 0-3 (17-25, 22-25, 20-25) to No. 16 Taylor University in pool play action at the 2009 NAIA Volleyball National Championship Thursday.

The Lady Rams end the season with a 26-13 record as Taylor and Cal Baptist will advance from Mobile's pool to the single-elimination bracket Friday-Saturday.

UM Knocks Off No. 11 Vanguard At Nationals

SIOUX CITY, Iowa-- The University of Mobile volleyball team defeated No. 11 Vanguard University 3-1 (23-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-19) in pool play action at the 2009 NAIA Volleyball National Championship Wednesday afternoon.

Mobile (26-12) will battle 16th-ranked Taylor University Thursday at 1 pm to close out pool play action. The top two teams from the pool advance to a single-elimination bracket Friday-Saturday.

UM Women Drop Pool Play Opener

SIOUX CITY, Iowa-- The University of Mobile volleyball team fell 0-3 (20-25, 18-25, 15-25) to No. 2 California Baptist University in pool play action Tuesday at the final site of the 2009 NAIA Volleyball National Championship.

Paula Stilkey finished with 8 kills and 8 digs for Mobile, Kelly Sherling had 7 kills and 9 digs and Whitney Knight finished with 7 kills and 7 digs. Melody Tenney had 20 assists for the Lady Rams.

UM Wins National Championship Opening Round Match

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team defeated Savanna College of Art and Design 3-1 (25-19, 25-19, 18-25, 25-15) Saturday in a NAIA National Championship Opening Round Match at Pharr Gym.

The Lady Rams (25-11) advance to Sioux City, Iowa to join 23 other teams at the final site of the NAIA National Championship presented by Siouxland Sports Medicine Foundation.

Six Lady Rams Named All-GCAC

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference released the 2009 GCAC All-Conference Volleyball Team, and the University of Mobile had six student-athletes honored. Whitney Knight, Paula Stilkey, Blaire Fowler, Melody Tenney, Cassy Johnson and Sarah Scott were all named to the honorary squad.
