NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile baseball team used an eight-run 7th inning in the finale to finish off a doubleheader sweep over Loyola University Tuesday in a pair of seven-inning non-conference games. Mobile won the opener 6-4, followed by a 10-5 victory in the finale. Mobile (4-1) visits Talladega for a three-game series this weekend, starting with a 1 pm game Friday.

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team split Saturday's doubleheader with visiting Talladega, taking the opener 4-1 before falling 2-1 in the finale. The Rams take the series 2-1. Mobile (2-1) visits Loyola University Tuesday, Feb. 5 for a 3 pm doubleheader.

MOBILE, Ala-- A four-run 6th inning made Ryan Hines' 7-inning gem stand up, as the University of Mobile baseball team defeated Talladega College 8-2 to start the 2013 season. Hines (1-0) limited the Tornadoes to two runs on four hits in 7 innings of work, while fanning nine and walking only two. Jeff Price worked two innings of scoreless relief to finish out the game.

MOBILE, Ala-- Former University of Mobile and St. Paul's Episcopal product Kyle McPherson made his first Major League start tonight for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the Milwaukee Brewers, giving up two runs on seven hits, with one walk and two strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work. McPherson made his big league debut Aug. 20 with two innings of one-hit, shutout relief against the San Diego Padres, and has gone on to post a 1.54 ERA in 11.2 innings of relief this season for the Pirates prior to Wednesday's start.

SAN DIEGO, Calif-- Just hours after being called up by the Pittsburgh Pirates from Triple-A Indianapolis, former University of Mobile Ram and Mobile, Ala., native Kyle McPherson made his Major League Baseball debut against the San Diego Padres. McPherson entered the game in relief in the 6th inning, and went on to work 2 innings of one-hit shutout relief. He struck out two and walked none, throwing 19 of 26 pitches for strikes.

COLUMBUS, Ga-- The University of Mobile baseball team saw its season come to an end Friday, falling 4-9 to 16th-ranked Auburn University-Montgomery on day two of the SSAC Tournament. Mobile ends the season with a 25-25 overall record. The Warhawks jumped on Mobile with seven runs over the first three innings and never looked back. After the Rams went down in order in the top of the 1st, Adam Russell hit a two-out, three-run double in the bottom half of the inning.

COLUMBUS, Ga-- The 5th-ranked Lee University Flames topped the University of Mobile 11-6 Thursday in the opening round of the 2012 SSAC Baseball Tournament. Mobile (25-24) will play an elimination game Friday at 1 pm EST against the loser of the William Carey v. AUM game. Lee jumped to a 7-0 lead in the first three innings, and it was too much for the Rams to overcome. Mobile tried to rally with six runs over the final four innings, but fell short. Patrick Merkling picked up the win for Faulkner after limiting the Rams to one earned run on six hits in 6 innings of work.

MOBILE, Ala-- Several University of Mobile baseball players were honored by the Southern States Athletic Conference Thursday. Braxton Hamil was tabbed the SSAC Freshman of the Year, and named to the All-Freshmen Team. Hamil, a freshman from Mobile, Ala., started 46 games for the Rams, hitting .306 with a .414 on base percentage. He leads the team with 19 doubles and 36 RBI. Hamil was also named to the Gold Glove Team, where he was joined by teammates Justin Beck and Brady King.

COLUMBUS, Ga-- The 2012 SSAC Baseball Tournament will kickoff Thursday, and the University of Mobile will play at 4 pm against Lee University in game three. The Rams (25-23, 15-15) are the 7th seed, while the Flames (46-8-1, 26-4) are the 2nd seed and ranked 3rd in the NAIA Top-25. Lee finished a game behind 5th-ranked Faulkner for the top seed. The tournament is double-elimination, with the championship taking place Monday at 7 pm or Tuesday at 2 pm if necessary.
